What happens on a first visit -

I allow up to an hour and a half for first visits.  I will take a comprehensive history and do a physical evaluation which will include taking your pulse and looking at your tongue.  Both of these are traditional examination techniques which give practitioners valuable information about your health.  Physical evaluation can include western physiology methods to test joints and muscles, as well as survey of the channels of the body by palpation.  During evaluation you will have the opportunity to ask questions that come up or questions that you have brought with you.  You will receive an acupuncture treatment and we can discuss herbal and dietary recommendations.  We will discuss the length of time you may need treatment and any other adjunct therapies that may be of use to you.  Follow up visits will last about an hour. Time on the table with needles can range from 20-45 minutes.

What you need to prepare for your first visit -

Wear something loose and comfortable.  Allow time for your visit.  If you have any reports that pertain to your condition, please feel free to bring them in. As needed, I will communicate with your other healthcare practitioners regarding your condition to help make sure that you are getting the best care possible. If you don’t have copies, have your doctor’s contact information available so we can get copies.  Bring your insurance card if you have insurance coverage.
